“are you an artist?”

to which I replied

“yes. yes I am… It has taken me a long time to be able to say that with pride. Many people sneer at you when you tell them that you are an artist… they often ask, “what are you going to do with that?” Well make art of course is the answer. Either way, it feels good to just say that now.”

He smiled and responded

“I think being an artist is one of the most courageous things you can do. I think an artist simply is. It doesn’t matter how much work you sell or if you’re well known. If you are an artist, it is something you have inside. It is something that you are.”   }
